KILLER BEES SIGN PAIR OF ROOKIES FOR 2011-12

The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League have signed a pair of rookie teammates for the 2011-12 season the team announced on Monday. Travis Eggum and Marc-Andre Carre both suited up for the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) last season culminating with back-to-back SJHL championships.

Travis Eggum (5’11, 200) turned in a phenomenal 2010-11 season scoring 106 points in 58 games. Eggum averaged a goal a game and added 48 assists to his total. In 17 playoff games Eggum chipped in an additional 11 goals and 18 assists to lead the Ice Wolves to the championship.

Marc-Andre Carre (6’2, 195) was the other half the Ice Wolves duo scoring 106 points of his own. Carre scored 39 goals with 67 assists during the 2010-11 season and in the 17 playoff games added nine goals and 21 assists. Carre also claims Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) experience donning the sweaters of both the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and the Lewiston MAINEiacs.

“Both Travis and Marc-Andre are obviously very dynamic players and both had incredible junior careers in La Ronge,” said Killer Bees Head Coach and General Manager Terry Ruskowski. “I am excited to watch them grow into dynamic professional hockey players this season.”

The Killer Bees ninth season of play gets underway in October at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo. Full season and half season ticket packages are now on sale by calling 956-843-7825 and more information is available at killerbeehockey.com.
