We offer Puppy & Kitten vaccinations! 

We can begin puppy vaccinations at 6 weeks of age & kitten vaccinations at 9 weeks of age 
but all pets must be at least 12 weeks of age before receiving a rabies vaccination. 

Vaccinations will NOT be provided to pets with a history of previous reactions to vaccinations.

For safety, please have pets on leash or in carrier.

Parade Entries Accepted for McAllen Independence Day Celebration

The City of McAllen Parks and Recreation Department is accepting entries for the 85th Annual Independence Day Parade scheduled for Thursday, July 4th at 9:00 a.m. The parade will follow its traditional route north along Main Street from
City Hall to Archer Park. All entries are required to be decorated in a patriotic theme. Businesses, non-profit organizations, civic and youth groups are encouraged be a part of the festivities. A $50 entry fee applies for all business/commercial entries.
Entry deadline is Friday, June 21. For more information call (956) 681-3333 or www.mcallen.net/parks to download an application.

  • Canine Influenza causes respiratory illness in dogs. Symptoms can be coughing, sneezing, fever, nasal discharge and ocular discharge. It is easily transmitted by direct contact, cough or sneeze, or via contaminated surfaces. It is recommended for all dogs that are taken to places where multiple dogs will be. Examples would be shelters, kennels, boarding facilities, pet stores, adoption groups, doggie daycares, breeding facilities.

The Traffic Department's proposed bike route map could be adopted by city commissioner's at the next city commission meeting, on September 10. The first step in expanding the city's bike routes is to formally adopt the plan. Thereafter, the city could seek funding for the proposed projects. Send feedback to traffic@mcallen.net. McAllen ISD Superintendent Dr. James Ponce recently interviewed with City of McAllen Director of Government Affairs Teclo Garcia about new school year and TLC3. In this interview, Dr. Ponce says the district plans to address cyber safety and cyber bullying. Dr. Ponce also spoke about ongoing construction projects throughout the district aimed at increasing energy efficiency on various campuses and he was asked about the incoming athletic director.

City of McAllen installs surveillance cameras to deter illegal dumping. Deputy Director of Public Works Elvira Alonzo interviews with MCN about the cameras and the ongoing problem with illegal dumping throughout the City of McAllen.

3 McAllen homeowners, who have had their homes flooded during significant rain storms, are voluntarily selling their property to the City and moving out. It's all part of the Repetitive Flood Claims Grant program. McAllen City Engineer Yvette Barrera has the details in this video clip shared by the McAllen Cable Network.
